What transpired during the match is something that can be discussed and taken as a reason or excuse to hide the shortcomings, but we shouldn’t forget that this feud is far from over because of the interference from James Ellsworth.
James tried everything from steel chain to spray, but in the end it was Carmella who got the three count. She beat Asuka in the ring and is still your SmackDown Live Women’s Champion.
While some don’t like the idea of seeing Asuka lose to Carmella, it must be understood that the WWE wants Asuka to win at the biggest party of the summer. It is one of the reasons why Asuka didn’t win the title at Extreme Rules.
Although both wrestlers put on a good show, it must be understood that the way any babyface makes it big is by getting pushed down by obstacles or people, and then the way they overcome all of them one by one.
Asuka is on the same path now, and in this article i will take you through the process with which WWE can make Asuka a champion at SummerSlam.
#6 Mellabration turns into Interruption
A great match at a pay-per-view and a win calls for a celebration, but what if the Mellabration is cut short due to the Empress’ interruption.
Asuka comes to the ring and then questions Carmella’s integrity as a champion, but the question is answered by Ellsworth.
Paige comes to the stage and states that if Asuka defeats Ellsworth, then he will be barred from being at ringside at SummerSlam.
As for the result, your guess is as good as mine.
#5 Carmella gets a warning
The following week, Carmella and Becky get into a war of words backstage, which sets up a match between them on the 24th July episode of SmackDown Live.
When both the superstars would be battling it out in the ring, Asuka’s music would play, and Carmella will be distracted due to this.
In an attempt to take out the empress, she would be looking at the TitanTron when Becky rolls her through for the 3-count.
#4 Carmella takes a dig at Asuka
In an attempt to talk about the loss she faced last week, Carmella comes to the ring on 31st July and starts cutting a promo. During the promo, Asuka comes out and talks about the match at SummerSlam.
While she is talking, James Ellsworth and Carmella take a cheap shot at Asuka, leaving her lying in the ring, while we see the team of the SmackDown Women’s Champion and Ellsworth mock the Empress.
#3 Asuka is found beaten
Asuka is backstage on 7th August episode of SmackDown Live exercising, and the next time we return, we see her getting helped by WWE officials. There are rumors that Asuka was attacked by Carmella, but there is no proof of the same.
Carmella comes to the ring and tries to plead not guilty until we see a video of her and Ellsworth attacking the Empress. This makes the WWE Universe boo her and in-turn makes them leave.
#2 Contract signing
Following the aftermath of the last episode, Paige sets up a contract signing segment on the 14th August episode of SmackDown Live.
Carmella does the trash talking before signing on the dotted line and then turns the contract towards Asuka who gives a smile, and this leads to another segment of trash talking from Carmella.
Asuka signs the contract, and then Carmella tries to turn the tables on the Empress, which she blocks.
A good fight and trash talk end this segment.
#1 Carmella is not ready for Asuka
After a month-long feud, it’s about time that the two performers settle their feud inside the ring.
The match starts with some powerful moves by both performers until Ellsworth tries to interfere. This leads to some powerful moves by Asuka until Becky comes out to take Ellsworth out.
Finally, after a good match, Asuka gets what’s rightfully hers, the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship.
