This match is liable to be a spot fest full of destruction but considering who’s in the match that should probably be expected. TLC might be seen as a transitional event on the way toward Survivor Series but it is sure to be electric.
Here are 5 possible ways the main event at TLC could end. No matter which way WWE decides to go with this match, there will be a lot of high spots and bone-crushing action.
Let’s just hope everyone makes it out of TLC in one piece.
#6 Breaking up of The Bar
The Bar has been a powerful team ever since Mick Foley put Sheamus and Cesaro together after their best of seven series concluded. They picked up the Raw Tag Team Championships and held their titles until The Hardy Boyz’ surprise return at WrestleMania 33.
But all good things must come to an end. Sheamus has been rumoured to take some time off to film an upcoming WWE Studios film called “The Buddy Games.”
There haven’t been any hints of discord between Sheamus and Cesaro so far but The Bar breaking up at TLC might present Sheamus with an opening to shoot his movie. It’s certainly a possibility if Sheamus’ schedule won’t allow him to travel the road with WWE for a little bit.
Then again, Sheamus could also take some time off after a sick bump through a table with chairs set up on it and a ladder somewhere in the mix too. After that kind of spot, The Celtic Warrior might need to take some time off so he can limp around the movie set for a bit.
#5 The Shield wins together
This main event at TLC is designed to put The Shield over as a powerful babyface faction. Therefore, we’re likely to see a couple of triple powerbombs along the way. What if The Shield simply clean house as one cohesive unit and lay waste to their opponents?
They could simply decimate Braun Strowman and Kane with any number of tables, ladders, and chairs to leave him under a pile of hardware. Then, Roman Reigns could hit a Spear on The Miz while The Bar takes finishers from Ambrose and Rollins.
The Shield could pin any number of opponents in the ring at that point to leave The Hounds of Justice standing tall as a newly reunited force to be reckoned with.
#4 Kane’s presence will be felt
He might not be back for long, but as long as Kane’s back he might as well destroy some things. The return of Kane caught a lot of people off guard, most notably Roman Reigns.
Kane very well might have a huge grudge to settle with The Big Dog and he’ll rip through the rest of The Hounds Of Justice in order to get the job done.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see a spot or two where Kane demonstrates his old destructive power. Seeing how this match is the highlight of the pay-per-view there is likely to be plenty of time for Kane to chokeslam a Shield member or three.
#3 The numbers game wins
Now, let’s take a look at the flipside of that equation. After all, it is a 3 vs 4 handicap match. The Shield is just getting back into the swing of things so there could be some miscommunication as a unit and the opposition has that giant X-factor being Braun Strowman.
“The Monster Among Men” could take out Dean Ambrose with some sick spot like a running powerslam through a ladder to leave the Lunatic Fringe out of commission. Kane could only add the the numbers game by making sure none of The Hounds Of Justice stands a chance at retaliation.
Then The Bar could put Rollins through a table, leaving The Miz and his Miztourage to lay waste to Reigns with steel chairs. After that, The Miz could hit a Skull Crushing Finale on Reigns and score the win.
This might be an unlikely scenario because WWE probably wants The Shield to look as strong as possible so they can sell more merchandise. But if this is the start of something longer, a loss might give The Hounds of Justice a reason to continue feuding with these heels
#2 Roman Reigns wins it for The Shield
If you’ve been following WWE for long enough, you’ve realized by now that all things usually lead to WrestleMania. The Shield’s reformation was likely WWE’s way of getting Roman Reigns over as a babyface so he can start the Road To WrestleMania as a babyface
Rumors are The Shield’s reunion won’t last long and will likely be over by the end of the year. This would give Reigns just enough time to transition into the main event program for WrestleMania.
Therefore, what if Roman Reigns comes out looking like a true superhero at TLC? He could take a huge beating along with his Shield brethren but, for some reason, end up as the sole survivor to emerge from the pile of wreckage.
Braun Strowman could approach Reigns, only for his efforts to be reversed, sending him crashing through a table. Kane could take a spear as well to send the veteran performer rolling outside for a nap.
At that point, there could be Superman Punches and Spears all around and Roman Reigns would secure the pinfall and win it for his brothers at ringside.
#1 Braun Strowman destroys everyone
If character motivation means anything to WWE, TLC should be a playground for Braun Strowman. The Monster Among Men just wants to destroy things and he might do just that at TLC.
The Bar, Kane, and The Miz could be able to help, but it would be Braun Strowman’s sadistic mind and brute strength that really dominates over Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns. He could single-handedly lay waste to his opponents, leaving them twisted in a sea of busted tables, ladders, and chairs. This kind of treatment would be a nice receipt for that Shield Powerbomb through the announce table on Raw.
This kind of booking would not only make Braun Strowman look like a monster, but it would also give The Shield someone to carry on a feud with. A gauntlet match featuring Strowman vs The Shield could help continue that rivalry later on.
The Shield would likely wind up victorious in the end but WWE needs to protect Braun Strowman’s real estate because it would be a shame to squander his massive popularity by continually booking him to lose in big match situations.
If The Bar does separate at TLC, at least fans can remember the good times and look forward to these two brutes possibly locking horns once again.
