The series differentiates itself from most other shooters by forcing players to take a slow, methodical pace in missions to avoid alerting dangerous enemy forces. This slower pace, along with other changes from most FPS titles, means that many new players will be falling into some common beginner traps. Here’s what to avoid.
7 Not Picking A Suitable Loadout for The Mission
In most shooters, players like to find a favorite weapon and then use it as often as possible. This is especially the case in run and gun shooters like the DOOM games, which have certain weapons that are clearly head and shoulders above anything else. In Contracts 2, however, sticking with one specific loadout isn’t a viable option.
Some of the game’s missions will require players to get up close and personal, infiltrating bases with gadgets and silenced weapons. Other missions task players with hitting targets from over a mile away. Consequently, players need to ditch any form of favoritism with their loadouts and pick a range of guns and gadgets that best suit the task ahead.
6 Going In Guns Blazing
Most people playing Contract 2 will have completed their fair share of first-person shooters over the years. They’ll be used to rushing into areas without thinking about cover, knowing that a few well-placed headshots is all the strategy that they need. Unfortunately, this tactic will result in a swift death for the player in Contracts 2, particularly on higher-difficulty settings. Enemies are plentiful and do significant damage with their accurate shots.

Although it can get tedious at the time, players should have a well-thought-out plan before infiltrating any base or taking down any notable target. Ideally, they should do so in a way that is inconspicuous.
5 Not Looking For Environmental Hazards
When tasked with taking out a target, it may seem like a simple bullet to the head will do the trick. However, it’s not quite that simple in Contracts 2. Players usually have numerous issues to contend with, such as alerting enemy forces or simply missing the target, which is easily done when shooting from a mile away.
Thankfully, a bullet to the head isn’t the only option. Observant players will notice that there is often a vast range of precariously placed hazards dotted around each area. Not only do these hazards tend to be a large, static target, but they can also make the target’s death look like an accident. This allows Raven to slip away undetected.
4 Ignoring The Wide Range Of Gadgets
Following on from the previous point, many new players make the mistake of just relying on their guns. Not all players utilize the wide range of gadgets at their disposal.

Two particularly useful gadgets are the Muav ‘Falcon’ drone and the RWS SR-50 turret. The drone lets players map out enemy bases and hack equipment. Meanwhile, the turret can automatically take down approaching enemies or snipe a target that is up to 1000 meters away.
3 Not Hiding Bodies
In many stealth games, hiding dead bodies is essential to remaining anonymous. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is no different. Unfortunately, hiding bodies can be particularly difficult in Contracts 2, as many enemies are shot from a considerable distance away.
Although it can get tiresome, it’s always worth hiding bodies when possible. Doing so prevents enemies from being suspicious, raising their guard, and preparing their defensive weaponry.
2 Running Out Of Ammo
In a lot of first-person shooters, players don’t tend to run into ammunition issues. Most guns come equipped with plenty of ammo. If players do run out, it’s because they’ve killed tons of enemies, so they can easily pick up other weapons. Consequently, many players will go into Contracts 2 missions without taking ammunition into consideration, which can soon land them in a sticky situation.
Most of the game’s weapons have a sparse amount of ammo, and shooting enemies from long-ranged means that most targets can’t be looted. To avoid being stuck with just a knife, the player should invest in an extended mag for weapons that they foresee using frequently. Furthermore, most long-ranged missions have a perfect sniping spot with ammunition crates. These are certainly worth finding before preparing to take down a long-range target.
1 Trying To Hit Moving Targets On Long-Ranged Missions
In most first-person shooters, players can trust that their bullet will go exactly where they’re aiming, regardless of distance and weather conditions. This isn’t the case in Contracts 2. Players have to take a whole range of factors into consideration, such as wind, distance, and bullet travel time.
Bullets sometimes take so long to travel that it’s not worth considering shooting a moving target during a long-range mission. In fact, players should consider holding fire before they’re absolutely certain that an enemy is stationary. Wait until they’ve stopped to smoke, take a phone call, or talk to a colleague. The game’s maps often have ways that players can make their target stationary, such as shooting an electrical item for them to try and fix. Take advantage of these, and take targets out.
