While this mode features different gameplay than Fortnite’s Battle Royale and may require players to use new skills, it does not take place in a different universe. In fact, it expands upon the existing lore of Fortnite, answering some questions players have had for a long time while raising new questions, too.
7 The Impostors Map Is The Bridge, An Imagined Order HQ
Fortnite’s Impostors mode takes place in The Bridge, an Imagined Order (IO) Headquarters location introduced in season 2. By reintroducing this location, Fortnite allows players to gain insight into the mysterious Imagined Order’s operations since only Agent Jones’ office was originally accessible.
The Imagined Order is a faction that controls Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode, and now players can directly explore its headquarters to better understand the strange group’s inner workings. The Bridge features 14 different rooms with easter eggs and bits of lore scattered throughout. Some players might think that Fortnite gets old fast, but that’s a common misconception; the game frequently adds new places to explore like the Bridge.
6 Chest, Llamas, and Supply Drops Are Factory-Made
The Bridge reveals a room called the Imagined Order Factory, suggesting that this is the space where all of the items for Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode are manufactured. Chests of all types, Supply Drops, and even Loot Llamas are shown to be manufactured in this room of The Bridge. There is even a machine that fills the Chests.

For many players, this strange room may raise questions about the IO’s intentions, and just how much influence they have overthe mysterious inner workings of Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode. Bringing intriguing lore and thoughtful stories to shooters is one way Battle Royales have changed the industry.
5 The Prisoner Could Be One Of The Seven
The Seven is a group that fights against the Imagined Order, though like the Imagined Order, Fortnite’s existing lore has yet to make their motives entirely clear. Four members of The Seven are already known - The Foundation, The Visitor, The Scientist, and the Paradigm - but three of their identities remain hidden. This group is a fan theory that ended up being true.

One Twitter user found a corkboard in the Visitor CSI Room depicting members of The Seven with an arrow pointing to The Prisoner, suggesting that he may be affiliated somehow with the group. Still, others speculate that The Prisoner died in a volcanic eruption he caused, and therefore could not be a member of The Seven.
4 The Imagined Order Guards Are Always Watching
A room in The Bridge features a wall full of screens that display familiar scenes from Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode. If players look closely, they can even spot videos of players interacting in the environment.
This room suggests that the Imagined Order members monitor matches, keeping an eye on players as they battle, but the faction’s intentions remain unclear. Based on the Fortnite Impostors mode trailer, it is likely that the Imagined Order uses this room to keep an eye out for any anomalies in the Battle Royale and prevent disaster.
3 The Battle Bus Undergoes Maintenance
Fortnite’s Impostors mode is in The Bridge, where the game reveals that the Imagined Order creates Chests, Loot Llamas, and other items for the Battle Royale in a factory. They aren’t the only things from Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode that made their way into Fortnite Impostors, though: a Battle Bus rests in a small garage area, awaiting maintenance.

In fact, one task in Fortnite’s Impostors mode requires players to wash the Battle Bus, something many players did not know they could do. This suggests that, like most other aspects of Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode, the Battle Buses may have been created by the Imagined Order, and they require upkeep between matches.
2 The Imagined Order Has Been Around For Thousands Of Years
The trailer for Fortnite’s Impostor mode reveals that the Imagined Order, also known as the IO, has been around for thousands of years. The group has run Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode with little issue or disturbance for far longer than the game’s players have been alive. This means that ever since Chapter 1, the faction has controlled the Battle Royale.
Despite explaining how long the group has been around, the trailer did not answer players’ questions about the Imagined Order’s intentions or alignment.
1 Doctor Slone Might Be The Leader Of The Imagined Order
Doctor Slone has played an important role in Fortnite’s lore since Season 7, but the game has never been completely clear about her role in the Imagined Order. In the Fortnite Impostors mode trailer, Slone appears to take leadership over the team, suggesting that she might be the faction’s head. Still, other players speculate that Slone might lead a group within the Imagined Order, but not take control over the whole group.
Doctor Slone plays such an important part in the lore that she is even a boss in Fortnite’s Battle Royale. Hostile NPCs like Doctor Slone are one of Fortnite’s biggest changes since its inception.
Fortnite was released on July 21, 2017, and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Android, and iOS.
