With the announcement of that said sequel Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, expectations continue to grow in lead up to its release in 2023, and fans will be keeping an eye on any upcoming trailers and reveals to see what the game has to offer.
7 Seasoned Cal Kestis
Considering the ordeals and encounters Cal Kestis endured during the events of Fallen Order, fans hold the expectation that Cal’s skills as a Jedi and confidence would potentially be much higher having survived ‘Order 66’ and a general hunt for any remaining Jedi.
As fans will be aware, this game will be set five years after Fallen Order further indicating Cal’s knack for survival if it was not more obvious in the very title itself. Respawn could potentially give Cal a much older look, whilst also providing scenarios that will showcase what Cal has learned and faced over the last few years on the run.
6 Expanded Combat System
The introduction of new combat styles and possibly new move sets for players to experience would be something Respawn Entertainment must consider in development. This is one of the elements most fans appreciated which was more akin to FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, taking much more of a challenging approach to players’ experiences.
For some players, this will be a prerequisite and would favor an expansion to the engine and combat sequences already present, potentially leading to the ultimate Jedi experience. Whether this will be the case is yet to be confirmed, as no gameplay or in-game cutscenes have been revealed.
5 Expanded Customization
Many Star Wars consumers who are fans of TV shows, movies, and especially games have been longing for a title that contains the gameplay experience Fallen Order has, whilst having the ability to fully customize their character to their own liking to the fullest extent. This is present within BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic but in the form of an MMO.
Considering the fact that Fallen Order maintained some RPG elements, particularly in the aspect of the skill tree, fans would certainly appreciate an expansion on Cal customization by adding in the opportunity to adjust his physical appearance besides outfits and lightsaber skins.
4 More Planets
Similar to Santa Monica’s realms in God Of War (2018), Respawn was able to include different planets and locations for the player to travel to for the story, outfits, and other collectibles. Based on current info of God Of War Ragnarok, players will be able to visit all nine realms the title has to offer, suggesting a potential longer playing time.
This is a crucial point in Jedi Survivor, as this would further provide more exploration, but this could be dependent on whether Respawn intends to make this title an open-world game which will contrast to its first entry.
3 Jedi Skills
On the back of Cal becoming a Jedi Knight via Cere, fans are yet to see where this has developed and whether Cal has moved up in rank in the aspect of his skills. Whilst there is no guarantee of Jedi Masters having higher levels of strength above Jedi Knights which is evident in Anakin Skywalker ultimately leading to the path of the Sith, it is enough to know that Cal has the capability of defending himself and standing his ground.
Respawn has the option to showcase this character as one who has become more defined in his skill set and expand on the elements of force-using, or maintain the tone of the player’s fight to survive by keeping the idea that he still has much more to learn.
2 Side Missions
Despite the presence of multiple locations and optional boss fights featured within Fallen Order, Respawn took the decision to omit side missions from the game. Unless the player explores planets for new outfits, skins, and collectibles, the title remains linear for the most part.
This may not be much of an issue for most fans but would be beneficial if developers intend to extend the sequel’s runtime whilst also adhering to the idea of replayability. Not only would these have the potential to expand on other main story plot points, but it also contains the opportunity to include references or cameos Star Wars fans will be familiar with as long as it remains relevant and necessary.
1 Ship Flight Control
In the idea of providing new experiences for fans and enticing players, the addition of controlling the ‘Mantis’ would be an exciting implementation, to say the least. Star Wars: Squadrons’ focus is centered on battles in space, and whilst it is a different development team and IP, Respawn could borrow some ideas here for their sequel.
Seamless transitions and flight experiences would only further contribute toward the level of realism many fans are expecting, as Jedi Survivor is currently known as a next-gen title only. This may not be a prerequisite, but would certainly be a pleasing addition for a plethora of fans.
