In 2018 we saw Ronda Rousey make her awesome debut and she change the women’s division; Daniel Bryan come back and won the WWE Championship as a heel by defeating AJ Styles, who had the best year of his career here in WWE; Brock Lesnar reigning supreme after being defeated by Roman Reigns who, sadly, had to be stripped out of his title due to leukaemia; Asuka’s undefeated streak was broken by The Queen against all odds; Shawn Michaels returned to the ring; Becky Lynch is the most over wrestler in WWE… even Shane McMahon is now the “Best in the World”! But… what’s next?
#7 Women’s Tag Team Championships debut at Wrestlemania 35
There is no better place to debut the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships than at the Grandest Stage of Them All WrestleMania 35 in MetLife Stadium on April 7th. Such a historic match cannot take place at an ordinary pay-per-view.
The women’s revolution, after the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match, Elimination Chamber match, tables, ladders and chairs match, an all-women PPV…, reaches its peak with the introduction of these titles and we expect an amazing match with big stars in it (maybe Sasha Banks and Bayley?).
Probably a tournament will start after the Royal Rumble pay-per-view (with its semifinals at Elimination Chamber or Fastlane), so we will know soon the teams —perhaps some legends could come back, like Lita and Trish Stratus— that will aspire to be crown the very first-ever Women’s Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania.
#6 Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn become Tag Team Champions
Apparently, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are about to return (maybe during the Royal Rumble match) and the current Raw tag team division needs some fresh faces and a powerful and serious team to dominate the red brand.
Before WWE, Owens and Zayn worked together as a team a lot and it would be fantastic to see them pairing again in order to conquest the Raw Tag Team Championships.
Furthermore, that would make Kevin Owens a Grand Slam champion, as he has already won a world title (Universal Championship), the United States Championship and the Intercontinental Championship. Plus, it would be the first title Sami Zayn wins in WWE (if we do not take the NXT Championship into consideration).
The fans miss them a lot and they really deserve it, so it could be a potential and interesting storyline when they come back from their injuries.
#5 WWE Four Horsewomen vs MMA Four Horsewomen
WWE Four Horsewomen are Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch, while MMA Four Horsewomen are Ronda Rousey, Marina Shafir, Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke. It would not be surprising if at SummerSlam or Survivor Series we get to see these two powerful factions collide.
With Shafir and Duke in NXT helping Baszler and Rousey in the main roster, it is easy to get these talented wrestlers together. Imagine this: after WrestleMania, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair are disappointed with themselves for losing to the Baddest Woman on the Planet so they attack Ronda Rousey. Then, the remaining three MMA Horsewomen help the Raw Women’s Champion and Sasha Banks and Bayley appear as some backup. Now we have a reason for this amazing and awaited rivalry to happen!
#4 NXT take over the main roster
During the last few weeks, WWE aired some vignettes showing us some NXT superstars that will appear in the main roster soon (probably during their respective Royal Rumble matches) as Vince McMahon promised in his “shake-up” apparition on Monday Night Raw some episodes ago.
EC3, Lacey Evans, Nikki Cross, the tag team Heavy Machinery and Lars Sullivan have already been announced in those videos but something else is yet to come…
Triple H is very high on Adam Cole (he even entered the Royal Rumble match last year), so that could translate well to the main roster. As a matter of fact, the entire Undisputed Era —Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong— would appear in WWE making such a big impact, only comparable with The Shield’s debut back in Survivor Series 2012.
That perfectly fulfils the McMahon family promise of new faces and new matches an rivalries. Furthermore, they would add more quality to the matches too.
#3 Shawn Michaels will wrestle at WrestleMania 35
Shawn Michaels’ retirement was ruined in 2018. At Crown Jewel, the WWE Hall of Famer teamed up with his friend Triple H in order to face the Brothers of Destruction (The Undertaker and Kane) and they won.
But HBK’s last match should not be a tag bout in Saudi Arabia. HBK’s last match should be epic and in the Grandest Stage of them All! Mr. WrestleMania could face the Deadman once again for the last time ever. Maybe a loser retires stipulation would add some excitement to this everlasting (and full of respect) rivalry.
It is true that their shape is not the same as at WrestleMania 25 and 26, and their contest at Crown Jewel was, technically, one of the worst matches of the year… However, let’s see if the Heartbreak Kid can finally survive the Tombstone Piledriver at WrestleMania.
However, the rumor right now is about Shawn Michaels facing Daniel Bryan at the Show of Shows in a teacher vs. student match.
#2 John Cena wins the Intercontinental Championship
John Cena is a 16-time World Champion, 5-time United States Champion and a 4-time Tag Team Champion, he even won the Royal Rumble match twice (in 2008 and 2013) and the Money in the Bank briefcase in 2012… But he has not won the Intercontinental Championship yet.
To be a Grand Slam champion (in its modern format) you have to win at least one World Championship, a Tag Team championship and the US title and the IC title.
There has been 19 individual Grand Slam champions and, in the last two years, we witnessed some wrestlers finally become so: Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Jeff Hardy. 2019 can be John Cena’s year so he finally joins this exclusive group where, as one of the greatest of all time, he should be.
#1 Women will main event WrestleMania 35
Their time is now. There is no better moment for such a historic match as in 2019, with Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch as the two faces of the company.
It is not certain that The Man will win the women’s Royal Rumble match, nor Charlotte but, somehow, one of them will face the Baddest Woman of the Planet in this year’s Showcase of Immortals main event.
Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch or Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair II? Or maybe a triple threat match for the Raw Women’s Championship? In any of these ways, the match will be epic, historical and the climax of the women’s revolution in WWE.
Women always deliver on big occasions, they show that every time: WWE Evolution really proves it. I am sure we are nearer than ever to the first ever WWE women 5-stars match and there is not a better place for that than in the main event of WrestleMania!
