He stepped away and made himself an even bigger star, first trying out with the NFL before finding massive success with the UFC. The biggest box office draw in the sport until Conor McGregor came along, his stint with the UFC saw him reach a level of megastardom that not many people reach in the sports and entertainment world.
His run as a part-timer in WWE has proved to be extremely successful for him, both in terms of monetary gain and Championship accomplishments. We’ve seen him face the best of the best and as we know, he rarely ever loses.
He’s done a great job in putting over multiple Superstars in his current run, including the likes of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Goldberg, and Drew McIntyre. We expect him to be with WWE for years to come and at that time, these are a few Superstars who he needs to put over.
#7. Ricochet
Brock Lesnar needed a filler opponent between Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 36, so he was given Ricochet at WWE Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia. As predicted, it was a squash match, but what was surprising was how Ricochet got no offense in whatsoever.
We still believe that he can be one of WWE’s next big stars and there could come a day where he crosses paths with Brock Lesnar again. The two-minute loss would prove to be a great prop to build the story around, hopefully resulting in Ricochet reaching the next level.
#6. Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens is a Superstar who has been calling for a match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania for many years now. He’s crossed paths with him before, but only in a forgettable live event match where he lost.
Owens has had a bit of an odd career on the main roster so far. While his run between 2016-2018 was a significant one, he dropped out of the radar for a while and wasn’t in the position that he would have hoped to be in at that time.
Despite this, it’s clear that Vince McMahon and the WWE higher-ups recognize his talent, which is why he has been in many big spots over the years, whether it was debuting and beating John Cena in 2015, his Universal Championship run from 2016 to early 2017, his feud against Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan, being a World title challenger, and also the man responsible for Shane McMahon’s departure from WWE.
He most recently defeated Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 36 and he is a Superstar deserving of a win against Brock Lesnar.
#5. Matt Riddle
This list would be incomplete without Matt Riddle. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Vince McMahon has issues with the way Matt Riddle has used social media to try to get to Brock Lesnar and Goldberg:
It would be a bit unfortunate if he doesn’t get the Brock Lesnar match, but if he does, it’s guaranteed to be a big draw. Riddle, despite what the higher-ups might think, is an exceptional talent and he would benefit big from beating Brock Lesnar.
While it looks like his NXT run may last a while, a jump to RAW or SmackDown is inevitable for a Superstar like him. Hopefully, he doesn’t get into too much trouble for his comments against Goldberg and Brock Lesnar.
#4. AJ Styles
AJ Styles can likely have a great match with a broomstick, which is one of the many reasons why at nearly 43 years old, he’s still among the best wrestlers in the world. He’s impressed WWE enough for him to be a two-time WWE Champion and a main eventer within three months of his debut.
He had a rapid ascent to the top in WWE and is dubbed as the “best in-ring performer of this generation”, a title second only to Shawn Michaels. He had an instant classic against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series 2017, where he lost narrowly to The Beast Incarnate in a “WWE Champion vs Universal Champion” match.
Lesnar sold well for him and made him look fantastic even in defeat. While he was supposed to have a rematch against him a year later at Survivor Series, he was replaced by Daniel Bryan, who defeated him for the WWE title earlier that week.
A rematch must be done in the future and this time, AJ Styles needs to win.
#3. Kofi Kingston
Kofi Kingston had the greatest year of his WWE career in 2019 when he finally reached the top at WrestleMania 35, beating Daniel Bryan to win the WWE Championship. He had a great run as Champion as well, holding the title for six months and getting past Superstars such as Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, and Randy Orton before Brock Lesnar appeared and challenged him for the WWE title.
It was on the SmackDown on FOX premiere, which meant that it would be Lesnar’s first match on free TV in over 15 and a half years. While Kingston was expected to lose the title, it felt like it was an injustice for his great run to end in just 10 seconds.
While he’s recovered and is successful in the Tag Team division again, there’s no doubt that his WWE title loss leaves a sour taste in the mouth. If Kingston is to ever return to his singles run, a win over Brock Lesnar, even without a title on the line, would be the icing on the cake for his legendary career.
#2. Braun Strowman
This is the only case where it genuinely feels as though Braun Strowman is “owed” a victory over Brock Lesnar. The first time that they crossed paths was in the summer of 2017. It was a Fatal-4-way match that main evented SummerSlam that year, as Brock Lesnar defended the Universal title against Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, and Samoa Joe.
While Lesnar narrowly won, the star of the match was Braun Strowman, who manhandled The Beast Incarnate as nobody had before him. The fallout from SummerSlam saw Strowman emerge as the deserved contender, destroying Brock Lesnar to announce himself as the next Universal title challenger.
While Strowman should have won at No Mercy 2017, he lost clean to Lesnar. He would cross paths with Lesnar a few more times over the next year, with Lesnar always getting the better of him.
Strowman finally won the Universal Championship over four and a half years after his debut and he should cross paths with Lesnar again and beat him. It would do wonders for his legacy.
#1. Keith Lee
Few NXT Superstars will be able to get in the ring with Brock Lesnar. However, a man who seems to be inevitably headed for a clash against Lesnar is Keith Lee. At 6'2 and 350 lbs, he truly represents the evolution of “big men” in wrestling.
We’ve seen many iconic “Big men” over the years, but none of them had the athletic prowess of the NXT North American Champion. He’s had two major appearances on the main roster so far - one in Survivor Series and the other at the Royal Rumble 2020.
At Survivor Series, he took Team NXT until the end before falling short to Roman Reigns. After the match, he got a fist bump from The Big Dog - a huge endorsement. He even went face-to-face with Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. While he was eliminated, he posed a big threat to Lesnar.
It’s clear that WWE has big plans for him and we can see a WrestleMania clash between Lee and Lesnar someday.
