The show also took place over two nights and allowed the company to include several names who may not have been given the opportunity if The Biggest Show of the Year remained in its regular format.
The fact that WrestleMania included so many superstars could be why there have been several missing since April 11th. The company has already started to push forward with their plans for next month’s WrestleMania Backlash.
The following list looks at just six current main roster WWE Superstars who have been AWOL since WrestleMania 37 and the potential reasons why they have been missing from WWE TV.
#7/6. AJ Styles and Omos - WWE RAW Tag Team Champions
AJ Styles and Omos were able to find a way past Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston of The New Day back at WrestleMania to become the RAW Tag Team Champions. This win meant that AJ Styles was now a Grand Slam Champion and that Omos had won his first piece of gold in WWE on his debut.
It was a huge achievement for both men, but neither have been seen since WrestleMania. This could be because the focus for the Tag Team Division on RAW has seemingly surrounded the formation of RK-Bro, The New Day, Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin as well as T-Bar and Mace.
It could be that WWE are looking to build some opponents for the Champions before WrestleMania Backlash where Styles and Omos would be expected to wrestle only their second match as a team. But this is unclear at present.
Coming out of WrestleMania there were many questions surrounding how WWE would push the new team, given the fact that Omos isn’t at the same level as Styles in the ring. However, Omos can easily hold his own thanks his size and strength.
Of course, Styles has been the workhorse of WWE since he made his debut back in 2016, so it’s likely the former Champion could be taking a much-needed break and could make his return alongside Omos next week on RAW. As of writing, there are no reported injuries or other reasons for the absence.
#5/4. Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott - WWE SmackDown’s The Riott Squad
Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott were included in the Tag Team Turmoil match for a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, on Night One of WrestleMania.
Morgan and Riott cosplayed as The Joker and Harley Quinn, but still came up short in their quest to take on Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax for the titles the following night. Instead, it was Tamina and Natalya who won the honor, but were unable to pick up the win on Night Two.
Since WrestleMania, the feud between the Champions, Tamina and Natalya has continued on WWE SmackDown, whilst Bianca Belair and Bayley have begun a feud over the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
This has meant there has been little room in the Women’s Division for The Riott Squad, who have been missing from TV over the past two weeks. The Women’s Division is very competitive and there are very few places for the women to fight for. Hopefully The Riott Squad will return to TV soon, when creative has some ideas for them.
#3. Former WWE SmackDown Commissioner - Shane McMahon
Shane McMahon became embroiled in quite the storyline on WWE TV leading up to WrestleMania alongside The Monster Among Men. The feud became one of WWE’s most controversial feuds, since the former SmackDown Commissioner used Braun Strowman’s perceived lack of intelligence against him for several weeks.
This came to a head at WrestleMania when the two men met in a steel cage match and Strowman was able to overcome all odds to defeat The Chairman’s son. This win has put The Monster Among Men on the path to the WWE Championship, since he was recently added to the match at WrestleMania Backlash. Shane McMahon, however, is nowhere to be seen.
Whilst Elias has mentioned McMahon several times on RAW, it’s believed that now WrestleMania season is over, Shane has returned to his backstage position. More often than not McMahon will step up for a WrestleMania match. Following the loss and beating he took at the hands of the former Universal Champion, he needs to sell his injuries.
#2. Former WWE Champion - Edge
Edge returned to active competition in WWE back at the Royal Rumble in January and has since been on a mission to win the Universal Championship on SmackDown. The Rated R Superstar won the Royal Rumble match and challenged Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, before Daniel Bryan was added to their match late in the preparations for the show.
The triple threat match that took place saw Bryan and Edge completely dominated by The Tribal Chief, who retained his Championship and has since continued his story with Daniel Bryan.
Whilst the former World Champion will be handed his last chance at the Universal Champion this week on SmackDown, Edge hasn’t been seen since the crushing blow in the WrestleMania main event.
It’s likely the Rated R Superstar will be back this week on SmackDown and could be the man who costs Bryan the Championship, since he still believes that the former WWE Champion had no right to be in his match at WrestleMania earlier in the month.
#1. Former WWE Universal Champion - The Fiend
The Fiend only returned to WWE TV back at Fastlane when he was able to set up his WrestleMania match against Randy Orton. Much to the surprise of the WWE Universe, this was the match that opened Night Two of WrestleMania and saw Randy Orton pick up the victory.
The Viper has since been able to step into a storyline with Riddle and the duo are now known as RK-Bro. Alexa Bliss has been able to introduce her new best friend Lily, who she says is responsible for her recent issues with The Fiend, whilst Bray Wyatt has returned to The Firefly Fun House.
In the three episodes since WrestleMania, The Fiend hasn’t appeared on Monday Night RAW, which is interesting since he was able to have a makeover in time for the show and many believed that he would pick up the victory.
How does The Fiend bounce back from two consecutive losses to Randy Orton? Maybe this is the reason why he’s been kept away from WWE TV in recent weeks.
